The Video Resume?

Over the past few weeks I have been hearing about this concept - "The Video Resume". What a fantastic idea I thought! It's like an instant interview. No more than 60 seconds about yourself, have a few video clips from your references at the end and VIOLA!

And to think, for the employer this is fantastic. No more wasting time on haveing to read resume after resume. They all start to blend together after a while. And you can get such a sense from somone in the video to even see if they would fit in to your company instantly without having to go through the hassels of actually taking the time out to interview everyone that sends you a resume.

I guess the only downfall would be that some employers may not want to open the video link in case of external virusus and spam. And also, is it that we are living in such a society where we can't even have the time to interview face to face anymore? My answer to that, YES, it is 2009 people. We are people on the go, snap snappy, barely have time to eat, drink, and sleep little own interview!

GENIUS! I would love to hear your thoughts!

Why do we all hate Monday's?

I ask myself this question often. Is it because our weekends are so amazing we don't want them to end? Is it because we have a job we absolutely hate and don't want to go to? Or is it simply because we have given the word Monday such a horrible reference in our brains? What is the real meaning of Monday's anyways?

Well for me, my Mondays go back and forth. I love my job. I love my fresh Starbuck's coffee morning run. I love waking up and seeing the sunrise. On the weekends, I don't get up early enough to see that. I love checking my emails and having responses I need to attend to. On the flip side, I hate Los Angeles traffic. It is so unpredictable it makes no sense. One morning it will take me 30 minutes to get to work and the next it will take an hour and a half. Ahhh...but I love the luxuries of LA so I deal with it.

So this is the Poptronic Press

So I am a beginner blogger! I have to first say thanks to the inspiration for starting a blog. His name is Seth Godin. I was driving last Friday in the canyon and of course I don't get regular radio reception, so I clicked on my XM Radio. There he was. I had never heard of him, but for some reason he striked me. I continued to listen and I was taken back when he said he hadn't missed a day blogging in 3,000 days! Can you imagine that? So of course when I got to a computer I looked up his blog. I immediately decided this was for me! I mean, I love talking...I love peoples comments, conversation, ideas, values...so why wouldn't I want to communicate to the world and allow them to chat back with me? Give them my opinions and ideas and have them share their thoughts on them? It's almost like having hundreds of thousands of friends to talk to! WOW!! So I am instantly popular?? Haha...ok not that far! Well at least not yet. I do have to say, I started a few blogs here to get my entire family involved. You will have "Artistic Articles", "The Garden Gab", and "The High School Chronicles" all written by the Starbuck's!

Ok...so first things first. I will tell you I love the "...'s". I hope you don't get sick of them. They make me feel like I am not ending a conversation, but allowing you to take a moment, rest your eyes, grab your coffee and continue! Second, some of my blogs may be lengthy and some may not. Depends on the topic and what I need to say! Third, please respond or comment anything you want! I want to hear it! I want to know you are there! :-) Oh and last but not least, my name is Annette. Nice to meet you!

I'll tell you a little about me right now and more later. I was born in Missouri. Only lived there a year of my life so I don't remember it and have never been back. I moved to California after and lived there until I was 7. From there I moved to Idaho which is where I say I was raised because I was there from 7 years of age to 17. These are the most crucial parts of gorwing up and learning values. After that I came back to Southern California and haved lived here ever since.

I did not come from one of those "fortunate" households. My mom and dad separated when I was young so I was off with my mother. She was a complete party animal and I ended up babysitting all her friends kids while I was 10 years old so they could go out and party. From that moment on I knew I never wanted to be like her. I wanted to be someone special. Someone with an education. Someone who wanted an amazing life. Ok enough for now.

Why the "Poptronic Press" you ask? Well why not? What a great name right? What is Poptronic? Anyone know? That's exactly it...it doesn't exist yet. But it will and then you will know! The word to me just makes me feel warm, fun, want to dance, laugh, conversate, wear bright colors, listen to music loud, and not have a care in the world for just a moment. Poptronic is that electric moment inside all of us.

So welcome and thank you in advance for all of your comments! Enjoi!
